Taking your own pool water sample is very easy. This is the only part of the pool testing process where you have to go by the book.
1. Fill a clear plastic bottle with about 10 ounces of pool water. You may want to use a funnel so you don’t spill any water as you pour it into the bottle.
2. Put on a pair of food handling gloves. You never want to handle the pool water testing kit with your bare hands because it’s very easy to get an infection if you do.
3. Put on your safety glasses. You will still be able to see quite well through them, but they will prevent any chemicals in the water from splashing up into your eyes while doing other tests.
4. Put a lid on the bottle, and shake it for at least 10 seconds. You want to make sure that the entire sample gets thoroughly mixed up so you are getting an accurate reading.
5. Unscrew the lid and take off your food handling gloves and safety glasses, but keep the bottle of water in between your legs to prevent yourself from spilling it.6. Take off your food handling gloves and safety glasses and you’re done! It really is that simple to do, so don’t make it more difficult than it needs to be.
