Privacy policy

This policy describes the rebuilt ChooseRight website. ChooseRight publishes product information and links to retailers. It does not accept orders, process payments or require a reader account.

Hosting and website requests

Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and browser information. Operational logs may be processed for security, troubleshooting and service reliability. See Vercel's privacy policy for its practices.

Optional analytics

When enabled on the live website, Google Analytics helps us understand use of selected pages and product links. It loads only after you choose to allow optional analytics. Declining does not prevent you from reading articles or following retailer links.

On eligible guides, events may include the article identifier, product name and Amazon identifier, shortlist rank, link placement, button exposure and clicks. We use these to compare how readers use our recommendations. Clicks are not records of purchases. We do not enable advertising personalization or Google signals in this implementation.

Our implementation removes URL query strings, fragments and referral URLs from its manually sent events. Selected sensitive guides and articles not yet reviewed for analytics are excluded. Browser settings, consent choices and blockers can limit reporting.

Google Analytics cookies, when permitted, are configured with a 30-day expiration. Google processes analytics data according to its own practices; see Google's privacy policy. Property-level event retention is controlled in the site's Google Analytics settings.

Microsoft Clarity

When separately enabled on the live site and after you accept analytics, Microsoft Clarity provides heatmaps and session recordings of page interactions. We configure its consent signal with analytics storage granted and advertising storage denied. Page text is masked in addition to input masking. Clarity may process interaction, device and page information according to Microsoft's privacy statement. Its cookie lifetimes and data retention differ from Google Analytics; see Clarity's cookie documentation.

Clarity is excluded from preview sites, sensitive guides and unreviewed routes. Revoking consent calls Clarity's stop API and clears its first-party cookies accessible to this website. We also stop recording before navigation within the site; it stays stopped for that document. A fresh eligible page load can resume it only with saved consent. This does not delete previously processed recordings or cookies belonging to other domains.

Your analytics choice

The website stores your accept or decline preference in your browser's local storage. Use the Analytics preferences control to change it. Revoking consent stops our analytics transmission and removes Google Analytics and Clarity cookies accessible to this site. It does not automatically delete data already processed by Google or Microsoft. You can also clear browser storage and cookies.

Affiliate links and external content

As an Amazon Associate, ChooseRight earns from qualifying purchases. Following a retailer link takes you to another website, where its privacy and cookie policies apply. The retailer may use the affiliate link to attribute a qualifying purchase. See Amazon's privacy notice.

Some product images may be served by their source providers. Loading an external image sends the provider a request that can include your IP address and browser information. Our refreshed product images use a no-referrer policy. Local archive images are served with the website.

Contact form and email delivery

If you use our contact form, we process your name, email address, message and optional ChooseRight article URL to respond to your enquiry. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the submission for spam and may process browser, device and network information for this security purpose. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. We verify its token on our server before sending the message.

Brevo delivers form messages to our designated support mailbox. It processes the message contents and delivery information under its privacy policy. Your email is used as the reply-to address, not as the sending address. The form does not accept attachments or subscribe you to marketing. Contact-page visits and form content are excluded from our optional analytics and session-recording allowlist.

Messages and delivery information may be held in our support mailbox and provider systems as needed to address enquiries, maintain security and meet applicable obligations. We do not promise a fixed deletion period. Please contact us about access, correction or deletion requests.

Email enquiries

If you email ChooseRight, we receive the address, message and any attachments you send and use them to respond and address your enquiry. Do not include passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information. You can ask about access, correction or deletion of information you have provided by emailing contact@chooseright.net. Applicable rights depend on your location and circumstances.

Children and sensitive information

The website is not intended to collect personal information from children under 13. Please contact us if you believe a child has sent us personal information. We do not ask readers to submit health information to use our guides.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when website features or data practices change. The date above identifies this version. For questions, contact contact@chooseright.net.
